Fun and Creative Lockdown Activities to Do at Home

27th January 2021

A few weeks into our third official lockdown, many of us are struggling to know what to do whilst being ‘stuck’ at home. For those with children, it may be even harder to keep everyone entertained. We’ve put together our top fun and creative activities you can do at home to help keep spirits high. From personalised games to outdoor adventures, read our blog for plenty of inspiration to help you through this lockdown.

Jigsaw Fun for All the Family

This classic pastime is making a comeback! A jigsaw puzzle is a great way to relax and connect with the family as you work together to complete your puzzle. Not only does it give us some much-needed time away from our screens, there are many other benefits to jigsaws than you may realise. Improve your problem-solving skills, short-term memory and attention span all whilst bonding over a personalised puzzle made by you.

Create a collage of your favourite happy memories or simply add an image of a special moment you’ve shared together to your photo puzzle. Make your puzzle more challenging by keeping your photos and design really simple. To make it easier for the kids (or yourself!), add a ready-made layout and insert multiple images – surprisingly, the more detailed your photo puzzle, the easier it is to piece together.

Top tip: Keep the children entertained with their own Kids Photo Puzzle, available with 112 or 266 pieces. Alternatively, personalise a large high-quality Ravensburger Jigsaw Puzzle with your own photos, available with 500, 1000 or 1500 pieces.

It Takes Two

Put your memory skills to the test with this exciting personalised Pairs Game. Turn 25 of your most treasured memories into 50 game card pairs for a fun activity to do when you’re stuck at home. Lay all your pairs game cards face down and take it in turns to flip two at a time in an attempt to find the matching photo. Requiring great concentration and memory, this game is fun for all the family and a great way to reminisce on special memories you share.

Top tip: You can make your Pairs Game educational using numbers, objects or words to match together, creating a stimulating and exciting approach to learning.

Go Outdoors!

Remember to get outside and breathe in some fresh air. Whether that’s going on a walk, playing in the garden or heading over to the park, it’s more important than ever to make time for the outdoors.

One of the best ways to encourage the whole family to stay active in lockdown is to make walking a fun activity. As suggested by the Woodland Trust, have the children point out wildlife around them, such as animal prints in the snow or mud and counting how many squirrels or types of birds they can see. Nature and wildlife can do a lot for our mental wellbeing and getting out in it will help keep us moving too.

Top tip: Take plenty of photos on your adventures outdoors and make your very own lockdown CEWE PHOTOBOOK – perfect for reminiscing on the positive and fun times that came out of lockdown.

Make Learning Fun

With many of us presented with the mammoth task of home-schooling, take matters into your own hands and make lessons fun with a custom made Kids CEWE PHOTOBOOK. With thick board pages and plastic spiral binding for easy page-turning, create your own educational board book filled with meaningful photos. It’s a sure way to keep the children engaged when they see familiar objects and photos they recognise. From shape identification books to alphabet books, discover more inspiration and ideas on how to create your kids board book on our blog.

Bake Together

There’s no better indoor fun than getting messy together in the kitchen! For a true stay-at-home activity, Verve Magazine suggests that baking is a great way to teach your children key skills in identifying ingredients and measuring. Watch as they discover the science behind making cakes and cookies, all whilst they have fun bonding with you. Help them to build important skills in teamwork and collaboration, but don’t forget the best part – the end result! Whether you made brownies, cupcakes or cookies, enjoy your delicious homemade bakes with a fresh cup of tea and their favourite book or movie.

Top tip: Take photos of your baking experience together, from the messy parts right through to tasting your finished treats. Use the photos in your own personalised recipe photo book or create beautiful keepsakes in Retro Prints – perfect for remembering this precious moment together.
