Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. But you don’t have to go through it alone. The Macmillan team is with you every step of the way. By 2020, almost one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, but almost 4 in 10 will not die from the disease. This will put huge pressure on the NHS and in turn cause a surge in demand for the support of charities such as Macmillan. Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face, and Macmillan is here to make sure nobody faces it alone. We are the nurses and therapists helping you through treatment. The experts on the end of the phone. The advisers telling you which benefits you’re entitled to. The volunteers giving you a hand with the everyday things. The campaigners improving cancer care. The fundraisers who make it all possible. Together, we are Macmillan Cancer Support.
By 2020 almost half the population will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to ensure that as the demand for cancer services rises, people affected by cancer wherever they are in the UK, have access to the best cancer information and support in their local community. By working together and providing access to the right information and support in local communities, on the high street and online, we can help ensure everyone affected by cancer can take back control and feel more like themselves.
Boots UK and Macmillan know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything. Research has found over three quarters (80%)10 of cancer patients feel better having someone to talk to on a face-to face basis. As the demand for cancer services is set to rise, we aim to reach even more of the millions affected by cancer by combining our expertise to deliver innovative services and by working alongside existing primary care networks to improve access to localised support across the UK. By connecting people, and their loved ones, to information and support in their community, everyone affected by cancer will be able to have conversations about the wider, practical and emotional issues, at a time when they need it most. Since 2009 Boots UK have raised over £10million for Macmillan, and are continuing to raise significant funds for Macmillan to help to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
As part of our partnership with Boots UK, bootsphoto.com will be donating 15p to Macmillan for every 7 x 5 card you buy, 15p is enough to pay for a copy of our A quick guide to benefits and financial help leaflet. This easy-to-read information about what financial benefits are available to someone affected by cancer can ease the worries which come with a cancer diagnosis. Our work with Bootsphoto.com is just one part of our partnership with Boots UK, which has raised over £10million since 2009, helping Macmillan be there for people affected by cancer.
